Kristina Carter is the Director of Finance and Lease Administrator with Clarity Tenant Representation. Monica is the Office Manager with Clarity Tenant Representation. Mike Layton

Mike is the General Counsel with Clarity Tenant Representation. With more than 15 years of firsthand legal expertise and a background as a business owner and operator, Michael possesses a distinct vantage point that enables him to adeptly address a wide spectrum of both legal and business challenges. His professional pursuits revolve around the realms of real estate development, alongside comprehensive engagement in real estate and business transactions.

He is an accomplished attorney with a proven track record managing teams and executing complex projects in both entrepreneurial and structured corporate environments. He has outstanding business acumen with an expertise in real estate, contracts and M&A. He is extremely ethical, and a strategic thinker with powerful communication skills. Michael negotiated business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, and other business and real estate transactions of up to $30 million in value.

Christopher Lee

Christopher is the Director of Operations with Clarity Tenant Representation. Chris plays a pivotal role at Clarity TR by delivering comprehensive administrative oversight, encompassing a diverse array of responsibilities. These encompass but are not limited to, skillful management of intricate databases, meticulous handling of corporate licensing matters, and diligent upkeep of transactional paperwork records. His dedicated efforts stand as a linchpin in ensuring the organization’s operations flow seamlessly.

He’s a proud George Mason University alumnus, with an academic journey that has equipped him with the tools needed to excel in the dynamic landscape of administrative functions. His educational background serves as a testament to his commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

Ashley Gagnon

Ashley is a Senior Associate with Clarity Tenant Representation. Ashley brings her expertise to Clarity TR, backed by several years of skillful project management experience. Her versatile background encompassing start-ups, studio production, and engagement in her family-owned business positions her as an asset across various facets of Clarity TR’s operations. Ashley provides support to the brokerage and operations teams, helping to deliver an exceptional level of service to clients and a knack for excelling in fast-paced, outcome-driven environments that value personal connections. Having spent nine years in Colorado due to her husband’s active military duty, Ashley is no stranger to adaptability and resourcefulness.  This phase was characterized by the allure of high-altitude sunshine, exhilarating snowboarding escapades amidst the picturesque Rocky Mountains, and the delights of exploring local breweries.

Todd Sherbacow

Todd is a Partner with Clarity Tenant Representation. With over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, Todd’s unwavering dedication to aggressively advocating for his clients begins with a deep dive to understand their needs. Todd, then, educates clients about the market and provides a strategic approach to negotiations—from identifying the ideal space to negotiating the most favorable lease terms and navigating complex transactions. His objective is to secure the optimal outcome with the lowest cost.

Todd empowers tenants to make informed decisions and maximize their advantage in every transaction. Todd’s services do not end when a lease is signed, in tandem with helping clients find a great location he assists with the smooth transition into the new space.

Jim Layton

Jim is a Partner with Clarity Tenant Representation. Since 2004, Jim has been specializing in commercial leasing, sales, and complex real estate transactions in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. market (DC, MD, VA – DMV), with a focus on tenant representation and private client sales. Because of his experience in both law and business, he brings a unique, multidisciplinary approach to a field that requires a broad range of expertise to be successful. Jim’s clients include law firms and lobbyists, technology firms, cannabis companies, healthcare providers, corporations, and consulting firms.

Jim’s practice includes office, retail, and industrial leasing and sales. Most recently, Jim has established himself as the preeminent broker in the DC Metro region for cannabis companies, having helped in the acquisition of dispensaries, processing facilities, and cultivation facilities.

Consistent with Clarity TR’s focus on local, DMV-area companies, Jim loves to work with entrepreneurs and understands what’s important to them. Jim was a co-founder of Northern Virginia’s first cannabis company and also recently co-founded the DMV’s first independent portable self-storage company, SpaceMaker Mobile Storage.

Perhaps most importantly, with his legal background, Jim brings superior transaction analysis and a keen sense of fiduciary responsibility to his role as a tenant rep broker.
